THE BOOKS!
The books are here and this epic signing session just went down! Now it's all about packaging and shipping these beauties to you!
To that end, I'm happy to report that 90% of surveys have been received, so if you haven't sent yours in yet, please do so as soon as possible!. If you can't find your survey, look for a past email from Backerkit (in your spam folder, maybe?). If it is still missing, please DM through the campaign and we will resend.
We will send out another update in a few days as the books ship. Can't wait to have them in your hands!
LIVE STORY CALL!
Enough people have expressed interest, so we're scheduling a group video call where everyone can join on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 - 7:00 PM Pacific
I'll be talking about story / storytelling in all its form, and it will be an AMA type format, that will extend from my work in comics and animation to anything storytelling-related. Anything from simple tricks-of-the-trade to anecdotes about life in the story trenches, to deep philosophical idea on the role that story plays in the world is fair game!
The call is absolutely free, and it will be a chance to put faces to names AND to enjoy the kind of conversations that we're able to enjoy at cons when readers drop by the booth or at storytelling panels!

SURVEY UPDATE: ART PRINTS!!!

Dear backer,
Looks like there's been some quirkiness in the survey system in terms of picking prints. Hopefully, this will help everyone work around possible problem they might encounter:
Q: Where are the print options?
A: For some reason, the moment when you pick your print happens late in the process. The screen where you see the various print designs and make your pick shows up AFTER the one that shows you your cart (right before the screen to confirm your ship address).
The same applies if you get a print or set of prints as an add-on. Click on the "1 print" or "1 set of prints" add-on, then go to cart, press next, and THEN you get to select your specific print(s).
Q: When trying to add on a set of prints, some backers only see the name of the prints listed, but not the images.
I don't understand why that's happening either and will reach out to Backerkit for help. Meanwhile, here are all the prints we are offering, so you can use this as reference to make your pick!

The test surveys came back without a hitch so all surveys have gone out this morning. If you haven't received your survey email from BACKERKIT yet, please check your spam folder.
*Also just wanted to correct an unfortunate typo in the last update and clarify any confusion: we do NOT control the digital distribution of the SILVER books, which is why no digital versions of those books are offered as part of this campaign.

It took a little longer than expected to work out the kinks, but the surveys will start going out today! See details, as well as answers to some anticipated FAQs below!
SMOKE TEST:
Today, a test batch of surveys will be going back to 5% of the backers. If you receive your survey today, please answer it as soon as possible. That way, we know that everything is working OK, and we can send out the rest of them!
FAQs:
Q: Are all physical books coming with complimentary digital versions?
A: All Palomino books, Romance In The Age Of The Space god, and Rosalynd do. The Silver books do now because we do not control the digital publishing rights for these titles. However, thanks to our partners at Abrams ComicArts, digital version of those books are easily available through your usual e-book sources.
Q: I ordered a physical copy--why is my survey asking me to select a format for my digital version?
A: Because you are getting a complimentary digital version on top of your physical copy, the first thing you will see on your survey is a format question for digital. You won't see any question about the physical copy, since it does not entail options.
Q: One-page-up or Two-Page-Up?
A: One-page-up displays one page at a time, and two-page-up displays spreads, as if the book was physically opened in front of you. If you intend to read on a laptop or desktop, we recommend two-page-up. On phone or tablet, some readers found one-page-up a better fit. Due to its unique format (each spread works as one landscape image), Rosalynd is only offered in two-page up and will work on any screen.
Q: Sales tax in California?
A: We are required to collect sales tax on physical items from California backers. If this is you, this tax will be requested as part of the survey process.

Hello dear backer,
Big news—we just got our advance copies of the books, and they look fantastic! No matter how many books we’ve made over the years, there’s always that moment of relief (and joy!) when I can finally hold them in my hands and see for myself that they turned out beautifully.
So when should you expect these beautiful books in your mail box?
Our printer says the shipment will arrive at the Port of Long Beach on 8/24.
We’re finalizing the surveys this week, giving you a couple of weeks to fill them out before we start shipping in early September.
Meanwhile, I have a question for you!
I’m thinking about hosting a “live story talk”—a group video call for backers where I can answer questions about these series, or about comics, animation, and the art and science of storytelling in general (and no extra charge for the meaning of life).
I’d love to know if you’re interested. Just leave a quick comment on this update to let me know! If there’s enough interest, we’ll set it up.
